I'm here in between the past and the future,
Yesterday, calling my name,
And to-morrow waiting somewhere beyond,
While I remain caught in the middle.
I've walked roads I can't go back from,
But I am afraid of the roads that I have never walked.
My feet take off running on,
Yet, my heart is still searching.
I am lost in between,
In my memory and my future,
In the space in between dreams that won't die
And dreads which will not depart.
Sometimes I smile, as if everything's alright,
While questions quietly fill my mind.
I have hopes in my heart,
But this doubt goes with me.
I wonder if I'm going too slow,
Walking slowly and at my own speed.
So I wonder if the closed doors are endings
Or arrows directing me to some new place.
Perhaps being lost is not being forgotten;
Maybe it's as a result of getting older.
Perhaps this is why there is silence,
And wait I must, my soul is forming.
So I will continue to walk,
Despite uncertainty of the route ahead.
I'm not sure where to go,
But I don't want to cease to believe.
I will know one day
Why I had to go into the in-between,
And find out that I never really lost...
I was just going home.
