HE SPEAKS PEACE

Sometimes life is so loud that we can't hear God's voice. Problems speak. Fear speaks. Disappointment speaks. Financial difficulties speak. Uncertainty of the future is a voice! Sometimes, those around us can be a source of noise. There is one voice that brings comfort, hope and peace amidst all these voices, the voice of Jesus Christ.

Jesus speaks peace.

The disciples faced a great storm when they were crossing the sea in Mark 4:37–39. There was great wind, the waves were rising, and the disciples were frightened. But Jesus was in the boat with them. Then, Jesus went and said to them, “Peace, be still.” Immediately, the wind stopped, and there was a great calm.

This story is a reminder that if we have Jesus with us, we will still go through storms. In the time of this writing, there will be bad seasons. We may cry, struggle, wait and wonder when things will change. However, because of Jesus we know that the storm will not be our final word.

Perhaps you are going through a storm right now. Perhaps it's the future you are concerned about. Perhaps you've been asking for something for quite some time, but haven't received what you thought you should. Maybe it's rejection, disappointment, financial problems, family issues or maybe it's something you haven't discussed with anyone that you are struggling with.

Here's a reminder: Jesus is still in the boat!

Where He speaks peace, there must go fear. If He says peace, then you shouldn't have to be anxious. If He says peace then you can stand up even if everything looks like it is crumbling.

Sometimes, God gets the wind out of our sails. Other times He stills the storm in our heart when it is still changing. Hence Christian peace is not just the lack of troubles. It is the assurance that God is with us, and will always be faithful, even if there is still a problem.

In Philippians 4:6–7, it is called on believers to not be anxious, but to bring everything to God through prayer and thanksgiving. So there is peace in God that is beyond understanding.

Let not circumstances become louder than God's promises. There might be a situation that says, “It cannot be done,” but God says, “Trust Me.” Fear tells you that you won't make it, but God tells you that he is with you. You may feel like you can't go on, but God's grace can give you strength to keep going another day.

Although the storm may be strong, God is stronger than the storm.

When life gets busy, stop and listen then. Don't panic, pray! Believe before you resile. Don't assume that God has forgotten about you.

Jesus, the same one who calmed the stormy sea, can calm your troubled heart today.

You do not know the time and duration of the storm, but you know who's with you in the storm.

He speaks peace. When He speaks there is hope, there is strength, there is calm.
