Letters to My Friend π€
007: Some Things Never Make a Sound
Dear Friend,
Not everything that breaks makes a sound.
Some hearts don't shatter.
They fade.
Quietly.
One disappointment at a time.
One unanswered prayer at a time.
One βI'm okayβ at a time.
I've learned that silence can be deceiving.
A room can be loud while a soul is lonely. A smile can be genuine and still be tired. Sometimes, the person who looks the strongest is simply the one who has become really good at hiding the cracks.
We have become experts at surviving, yet strangers to being seen.
Perhaps that's why I love the way God asks questions.
βAdam, where art thou?β
Not because He had lost Adam.
But because Adam had lost himself.
Maybe that's where you are today.
Not lost to the world.
Just⦠distant from yourself.
You've spent so long carrying expectations, disappointments, responsibilities, and hidden fears that you've forgotten what it feels like to simply rest.
You've learned how to answer βHow are you?β without really answering.
You've learned how to smile when your heart is asking for somewhere safe to fall.
You've learned how to pray for everyone else while quietly wondering if God still sees you.
But hear this, dear friend:
God does not meet us at the version of ourselves we perform.
He meets us at the version we try so hard to hide.
You don't have to make your heart look beautiful before bringing it to Him.
You don't have to organize your pain before you pray.
You don't have to understand everything before you say, βLord, I need You.β
The God who called Adam out of hiding is still calling.
Not with condemnation.
But with an invitation.
Come out.
Let Me see you.
Let Me love you here.
Β«βThe LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.β
β Psalm 34:18 (KJV)Β»
Perhaps healing doesn't begin when life finally changes.
Perhaps it begins the moment we stop pretending we don't need God.
Maybe the quiet places in you aren't places God has abandoned.
Maybe they're the very places where He's waiting for you to let Him in.
So, dear friend, if something inside you has been quietly breaking, you don't have to make a sound for God to hear you.
He already does.
You can come to Him tired. Confused. Disappointed. Afraid. You can come with questions that have no answers and prayers that feel unfinished.
God is not frightened by the parts of you that you don't understand.
So perhaps today, you can stop saying βI'm okay.β
You can simply say,
βGod, here I am.β
And let that be enough for today.
Reflection πΏ
What part of yourself have you been hiding, even from God?
Prayer π€
Father, find me in the places where I have hidden behind strength. Teach me to come before You as I truly am, without pretending, fear, or shame. Help me remember that I don't have to be strong all the time. Remind me that Your love reaches even the quietest corners of my heart. And where I have lost myself, gently lead me back to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
With hope always,
Your Friend. π€
