In the Becoming
poem

In the Becoming

I am becoming.

Not all at once,

not in one great transformation,

but slowly—

quietly—

one lesson at a time.

I am learning

that I do not have to rush

what was never meant to happen overnight.

There is a season for everything,

and this is my season

to learn,

to grow,

to prepare,

to become.

So I will not despise where I am

because I am not yet where I want to be.

I will simply do

what this season requires of me.

I am unlearning too—

old mindsets,

old ways of thinking,

things I once believed

just because I had always believed them.

And in their place,

I am learning again.

Learning to see differently.

To think more wisely.

To choose more intentionally.

To become softer without becoming weak,

and stronger without becoming hard.

I am still figuring myself out.

And maybe that's okay.

Because becoming

was never supposed to mean

having everything figured out.

It means growing into

who you were created to be.

And I want to become a woman

my family can be proud of,

a woman my parents can look at

and smile because they know

their daughter became someone good.

But more than that,

I want to become a woman of God.

A woman who keeps learning.

Who chooses wisdom.

Who practices discipline

even when nobody is watching.

A woman who remains humble

when life gives her reasons to boast.

A woman who loves deeply,

serves willingly,

and leaves people better

than she found them.

I want my life to mean something.

Not because the world knows my name,

but because the life I lived

was useful.

Because I helped someone.

Because I encouraged someone.

Because I became a light

when someone else was standing in darkness.

I want to build a peaceful home someday—

one centered on God,

filled with love,

wisdom,

laughter,

and the kind of peace

that doesn't need to pretend.

But before I become that woman,

I am here.

Still learning.

Still growing.

Still making mistakes.

Still beginning again.

And maybe one day

I'll look back at this version of me

and realize—

I was already becoming her.

Because I am not who I used to be.

I am not yet who I will become.

But I am not where I used to be.

And for now,

that is enough. 🌱❤️
