Tochi is a naive village girls who has lived in the village all her life, she has never experienced life in the city. Tochi lives with her aged grandmother who has showed her nothing but love, her grandmother encompasses her whole world so says tochi. She usually tells her friend chisom that, she wouldn't know what she would have done without her Nne[as Tochi fondly calls her], due to the fact that, she was the only family she has.
WORRIED TOCHI
Tochi grandmother is a farmer, she has farmed all her life to earn money, that she uses to fend for herself and her beloved grand-daughter. One day Tochi's grandmother went to her farmland as usual to harvest some potatoes that she would carry to the market the next day, unknown to Nne, there was a very venomous snake inbetween the bushes that was very close to Nne's farm. Nne has already harvest enough potatoes that she would be selling tommorow, but she thought to herself, why don't I harvest more for myself and beloved grand-daughter to eat tonight, Nne knows pretty well that Tochi doesn't joke with her potato porridge, she calls it her favourite meal. So Nne started harvesting, and just when she moved her right leg, she got beaten by the snake, Nne screamed at the top of her voice for help, but there was none close by to help due to the fact that her farm was in the out sketch of the village, that' how Nne didn't make it back home.
The day is getting dark, other women are already coming back from their various farms, but Nne is not back yet, said Tochi to herself. The time was already 9:00 and
Tochi still didn't find a trace of her Nne, she immediately ran down to chisom's house that is two streets after her house, wailing and yelling, chisom was surprised to see Tochi at her hut that late, but she was all the more surprised, shocked and worried to see her wailing and crying the way she was.
Chisom to Tochi, what is it, what's happening why are you crying, Tochi trying to caught her breath stutters n-n-nn, confused chisom, runs into her hut, gets a cup of water and offers it to Tochi, Tochi took it from her and drank a little from the cup. Chisom knew that trying to get her speak at that moment will be practically impossible, so she gave her time to calm down, afterwards she throw the question back to her, Toshi what's wrong, Tochi still stuttering—nn-nn- Nne, Chisom still confused asking her, what about Nne, and Tochi replies I can find my Nne, I don't know where she might be,she went to the farm, but up till this moment she hasn't returned.
Chisom replies, is that why you were crying and wailing the way you did, I am sure that Nne is fine, nothing happened, maybe she went to Madam Onyi's place, you know she usually stop by her place. Tochi replies—i saw madam Onyi when she was coming back from her shop and she told me that the only time she saw Nne today was when she was on her way to the farm.
Chisom reassures Tochi—Tochi don't worry everything will be alright, I am sure that in the morning she will return back home, just come into my hut and spend the night here, in the morning, I will follow you back to your own hurt to see her. Tochi agrees with chisom and she spent the night there.
Chisom wake up it's morning already, let's go back to my hut and see if Nne is there. Chisom responds, at least let us pray, won't you thank God for waking you up this morning? Tochi responds I will, but please let's be snappy about it.
Chisom and Tochi hurriedly went out after praying to see if Nne was back but they couldn't find her, after few minutes the village hunter come to tell Tochi all that befell her grandmother, Tochi cried for weeks none stop for her Nne.
After a month Tochi's distant uncle came to the village, and took Tochi to the city to become their servant, she was constantly mistreated by him and his wife, she will be the one to do all the chores in the house, while their children weren't engaged with any chores, but Tochi remained faithful, patient and prayerful.
One day she met a good looking man name Dave at the market, he asked for her number, but she replied that she doesn't have a phone, he got her a phone that same day, they got talking and after a year of communicating, Dave decided to ask for Tochi's hand in marriage, she agreed and they got married.
Tochi is now happy and free.
