The Choice Is Yours: IF X, THEN Y

Life is a choice of choices. We make decisions every day regarding what we should do, what we should say, what we should seek and how we should respond to the events in our lives. There are decisions that may appear insignificant, but can make a big difference in our lives. That's why the seemingly simple correlation: If X, then Y is so compelling. It is a reminder to us that we sometimes have to face the results of our decisions.

If you decide on discipline, then you are more likely to make progress. If you opt for laziness, then your goals might not be achieved. If you choose to learn, then you increase your knowledge. When you say no to an opportunity, you might have regrets later on. Every action has an outcome and every decision can make you go toward or away from your desired outcome.

There are many who are striving for success, but few who will make the decisions required for success. We're looking for good results, but sometimes we're not willing to make the effort to get them. We desire a better future, but we may be doing the same things we used to do, which gave us an undesirable past. Actually, it is not always possible to get different results from the same actions.

The actions you take on a daily basis impact your future. If you study diligently, then you improve your chances of performing well academically. If you manage your time wisely, then you can accomplish more. Being kind and respectful to others will help you to develop positive relationships. When you stick to your objectives you acquire the strength to keep on going even if it gets hard.

But, when making the right decisions, there doesn't always seem to be a perfect outcome. Sometimes, you can work hard and still experience failure. While you're making good decisions, you may face some unexpected situations. Don't ever back down from these moments. Rather, they are meant to show you that you must be patient, wise, and persistent.

Failure comes with a choice. It's easy to feel discouraged, or it's easy to take the lesson and try again. If you get a chance, you can choose to either ignore it, or get ready to take advantage of it. If you find something in yourself that you are deficient in you can gripe about it, or you can get better.

What I want is not the only question, I'm also asking myself what choices am I making to get that? Dreams require action. Goals require commitment. Progress requires consistency.

So take care to think before you act. Please consider the implications before taking action. Avoid short term gratification and long term losses. Select activities that strengthen you, relationships that inspire you, and actions that help you progress toward your objectives.

Keep in mind: It's your decision. If X, then Y. While your decisions don't control all the things that happen in your life, they can have a profound impact on the path you take. Make good choices today; the choices we make today can impact our life tomorrow.
