My First Time at the Farm
So, it was my first experience at the farm, and honestly, I was excited and anxious at the same time. π I had never really experienced farm work before, so my imagination was doing overtime.
In my head, the farm was going to look like those beautiful farms we see in movies, especially the ones abroad. You know those farms with perfectly green grass, cute little animals, beautiful houses, tractors moving around, and everything looking so peaceful? Yeah, that was exactly what I had in mind. π
I was even telling my dad, βDaddy, I want my own farm too!β I was already imagining myself as a big-time farmer, probably sitting somewhere under a tree while people did all the hard work for me. π
Then came the day I actually went to the farm.
Hmm.
Let me just say that reality dealt with me immediately. ππ
The moment I got there, I realised that whatever I had imagined was completely different from what I was seeing. The farm was stressful! There was work everywhere, and suddenly the excitement disappeared from my face. Nobody told me it would be this stressful na! π
I remember looking at everything and thinking, βSo this is what farming actually means?β
My dream of owning a farm started looking like a punishment. π
And just after three days of going to the farm, I felt sick for the first time. At that point, I started wondering how people who do farm work regularly survive it.
People sometimes look at me and probably think I don't do anything or that I don't know what real work feels like. What they don't know is that all the fine appearance is just packaging. π Inside that packaging is someone who can actually be exhausted from farm work!
Eventually, going to the farm became a normal thing. I got used to waking up, going there, doing the work and coming back home. Did I start loving farm work?
Absolutely not. π
I genuinely still hate the stress, but let me not lieβI LOVE the profit that comes out of it. π€ At the end of the day, when I see the result of all the hard work, I start thinking, βOkayβ¦ maybe this suffering wasn't completely useless.β π
But beyond the stress, the farm taught me something important.
I learnt that if you don't put in effort, things won't magically work out. If you aren't consistent, hardworking and available when you're needed, something can easily go wrong. And when something goes wrong, you may end up having even more work to do.
Sometimes, we want the results without wanting the process. We want the beautiful farm, but we don't want the muddy shoes, tired body and stressful days that come with it. π
My first experience at the farm taught me that success doesn't always look beautiful while you're working for it.
Sometimes, it looks stressful, tiring and frustrating.
But if you stay consistent and keep putting in the work, eventually, you get to enjoy the harvest.
And honestly?
I'll still complain about the stress. π
But I'll also enjoy the profit. π€
