The pain you are running from is the training you need

We all have something we are running from. Some of us are running from poverty. Some are running from heartbreak. Some are running from failure. Some are running from that small business that is not growing. Some are running from school stress. Some are running from rejection.

We run because pain is uncomfortable. We think if we run fast enough, pain will not catch us. But I came to tell you the truth today: You cannot outrun pain. And more importantly, you should not run from it. Because the pain you are running from is the training you need.

Look at the gym. Nobody becomes strong by avoiding pain. The muscle grows because you put it under pain. You carry weight that is heavy. You sweat. You feel like stopping. That pain is not punishment. That pain is training. Without pain, there is no muscle.

Life is the same. Life is a gym.

Number One: That rejection is training you.

You applied for that job and they said no. That girl said no. That customer said "I will get back to you" and never came back. That school said you failed. It hurts, right? You want to stop applying. You want to stop trying.

But listen to me: Rejection is training you for resilience. Life is going to say no to you many times. If you break because of one no, you will never survive the journey to yes. Every no is teaching you how to stand up again. Every no is making your skin thicker. Every no is preparing you for the big yes that will change your life. Stop running from rejection. Let it train you.

Number Two: That lack is training you.

You don't have money. You don't have a good phone. You don't have connection. You trek while others take keke. You manage one pair of shoe. It is painful to have nothing when everyone around you seems to have something.

But that lack is training you for management. If God gives you plenty money today, you will waste it because you never learned how to manage small. That period of nothing is teaching you how to be creative. How to sell with zero capital. How to talk to people. How to save 500 naira. How to manage hunger and still show up. When abundance comes — and it will come — you will be ready because lack has trained you.

The best business managers are people who started with nothing.

Number Three: That heartbreak and disappointment is training you.

Some of you are running from disappointment. You trusted someone and they betrayed you. You gave your all in a relationship and it crashed. You trusted a friend with business money and they cheated you. You want to close your heart. You want to trust nobody.

But that pain is training you for wisdom. It is teaching you how to choose people. How to set boundaries. How to love without losing yourself. How to forgive but still be wise. You cannot learn wisdom in a classroom. Wisdom is learned in pain.

My friends, hear me. The athlete does not pray for the race to be easy. He prays to be stronger for the race. Stop praying for an easy life. Pray to become a stronger person.

From today, don't run again. Turn around and face that pain.

Is it your small business that is slow? Face it. Learn why customers are not buying. Improve.

Is it your studies that are hard? Face it. Study one more hour.

Is it poverty? Face it. Learn a skill. Start that VTU business. Start that shoe business.

Because that same pain that wants to kill you today is the same pain that will build you tomorrow.

One day, you will look back and thank that pain. You will say, "If that pain didn't happen, I would not be who I am today."

So don't run. Train.

Thank you.
