What You Give Is What You Get

Life teaches us important lessons in a straightforward way: what we share with the world tends to come back to us. Whether it’s kindness or cruelty, love or hate, respect or disrespect, our actions lead to results. Because of this, we must always be mindful of our words, our deeds, and how we treat others.

We encounter various people each day. We meet family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and even unfamiliar faces. At times, we might not recognize the impact our words and actions have on them. A small gesture like a smile, a friendly comment, a helping hand, or a supportive message can uplift someone’s spirits. Conversely, a negative remark, betrayal, dishonesty, or an act of disrespect can leave lasting scars.

When we treat others kindly, we are more inclined to be treated with kindness in return. This doesn't guarantee that everyone will always reciprocate our kindness just because we have been good to them. Unfortunately, some individuals might exploit our generosity. Nevertheless, kindness remains significant. A good character fosters trust, nurturing healthy relationships and ensuring that we are remembered positively.

The same idea holds true for negative behavior. If someone regularly lies, cheats, insults others, or causes difficulties, such actions can eventually harm that individual’s relationships and reputation. Others may start to lose faith in that person and choose to distance themselves. The way we repeatedly interact with others can influence their perception and reactions toward us.

Our words hold great power as well. Before we speak, we ought to consider whether our words will uplift or hurt someone. Once spoken, words cannot be retracted. A thoughtless remark can inflict pain, while a supportive comment can provide someone with the motivation to keep going.

This principle also extends to our outlook on life. If we continually dwell on anger, hate, envy, and negativity, we may struggle to find peace and joy. However, by opting for gratitude, forgiveness, patience, and love, we can create a more positive atmosphere for ourselves and those around us.

It is crucial to recognize that not all events in our lives result directly from our actions. Good individuals can encounter hardship, while those who behave poorly can sometimes seem to thrive. Life does not always offer an immediate sense of justice. Thus, the point is not that every challenge we face is solely our responsibility. Instead, it urges us to take accountability for what we can influence—our choices, behaviors, words, and mindset.

Therefore, we should intentionally choose to introduce positive things into the lives of others. Offer respect, even without being asked. Show kindness without expecting instant rewards. Forgive whenever possible. Support someone who is facing difficulties. Be truthful, reliable, and compassionate.

Life resembles a mirror: it frequently shows us what we present to it. Whether positive or negative, what we express can return to us in various ways. Thus, let’s opt to share love rather than hate, show kindness instead of malice, and promote peace rather than discord. While we might not be able to influence others' actions, we do have the power to determine our own contributions to the world. Ultimately, the life we create is significantly shaped by the individual we decide to become.
