AFTER THE STORM
poem

AFTER THE STORM

After the storm, the silence comes,

Soft under the sun.

The clouds go away, and the darkness is lifted,

And the lights are restored to the broken window shades.

The branches can be split, the trees may be bent,

But out of their wounds grow leaves.

The rivers swell, the fields can be flooded,

However, the hope still comes to the surface.

I walked through rain but could not tame,

Wounds without a name carried by.

The thunder rained endless pain,

Each drop was like a chain.

I questioned if the night would all but be over,

But if broken hearts could mend.

But when morning came, there was no sound,

And the golden light fell on shattered earth.

I learned that storms don't last forever,

But the soul cannot be defeated by pain for ever.

In the darkest of nights

Make our hearts ready for brighter times.

Therefore, if you are in the rain,

Don't feel pain from your tears.

Cling to hope when it seems to be distant,

Storms always have to let up.

The sun will rise and the blue will be blue,

And for you life again will begin.

The scars can remain but it will be seen,

The storm didn't give you the death, it gave you freedom.
