In the Evening of My Night
In the evening of my night,
When the sun has folded its golden wings,
And shadows quietly gather
Around the edges of the day,
I sit beneath the fading light
And listen to the silence speak.
The road behind me stretches far,
Marked by footsteps, laughter, tears,
By moments I wished would stay forever
And others I prayed would quickly pass.
Every season left a lesson,
Every wound became a teacher,
And every door that closed
Directed me towards another path.
In the evening of my night,
I no longer chase the morning
With the impatience of a restless heart.
I have learned that darkness
Is not always the end of the journey;
Sometimes it is a quiet room
Where the soul discovers its strength.
I remember the faces that shaped me,
The hands that lifted me when I stumbled,
The voices that encouraged me
When my courage was almost gone.
I carry their kindness like small lamps
Burning softly within my memory.
There are dreams I never touched,
Promises that remained unfinished,
And words I wish I had spoken sooner.
Yet I refuse to measure my life
Only by what I failed to accomplish.
For even unfinished stories
Can leave beautiful pages behind.
Now, as evening deepens into night,
I make peace with yesterday.
I forgive the mistakes of my younger self
And release the burdens I carried too long.
I breathe slowly, grateful for another day,
Another chance to love, to learn, to grow.
And when the final stars appear
Across the quiet roof of heaven,
I will not fear the darkness.
I will remember that every night
Carries the promise of another dawn.
So, in the evening of my night,
Let my heart remain grateful.
Let my memories become candles,
Let my lessons become wisdom,
And let my life, though imperfect,
Be a story worth remembering.
For even when the day grows dim,
Hope can still whisper softly:
The light is not gone—
It is simply waiting
Beyond the horizon.
