GROWING WITHOUT CHANGING WHO YOU ARE
I am learning that growth
does not mean becoming someone new,
or leaving my old self behind.
It means meeting who I am
and asking,
“What more can I become?”
I do not need another person’s footsteps
to measure the distance I have travelled.
Their road is theirs;
mine carries different skies,
different storms.
So I look inward—
at the strength I carry,
the habits I must soften,
the dreams I whisper
when no one is listening.
I am not broken
because I have places to improve.
I am human,
and every challenge is a doorway
waiting for me to step through.
Some days,
progress will look like courage.
Other days,
it will look like trying again.
A small step is still a step.
A victory is a victory.
I will read,
I will learn,
I will listen,
I will make mistakes,
and I will begin again.
I will not rush my becoming.
Flowers do not compete
to decide who blooms first.
Yesterday is my comparison—
not because I was less,
but because tomorrow gives me room
to become more.
I am growing,
not changing who I am,
but discovering how beautifully
I can become.
